Elin Marie Christensen lives in Oslo, Norway and grew up at Nøtterøy, Vestfold.

She is an active and versatile musician working both as a violinist and violist as well as singer and known for her amazing ability to capture the audience whether performing as a soloist with an orchestra or as part of smaller groups.


In the spring of 2015 she won the soloist competition at NTNU and played Terje Bjørklunds´violin concerto «Arctos» with the NTNU Chamber Orchestra in Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim.

Autumn of 2015 she was a festival artist at the Timani Music Festival where she played chamber music, klezmer music as well as performing as a soloist with the Timani Chamber Orchestra

Over several years she has played in different orchestras such as Ungdomssymfonikerne, NTNU Chamber Orchestra, Timani Chamber Orchestra and the Trondheim Soloists.

With the Trondheim Soloists she has been touring in Norway, most of Europe and in South America and been part of many CD recordings, among these Gjermund Larsen´s «Trønderbarokk» which was awarded a "Spellemannspris" in 2014 and the last recording «Reflections» which is nominated for 3 GRAMMY 2017 Awards.

Elin has her Bachelor degree as a violinist from the Institute of Music, NTNU, where she studied with Marianne Thorsen among others. Other teachers with great influence has been Berit Cardas, Sergei Azizian, Esther Hafner, Geir-Inge Lotsberg and Bård Monsen.

She has also studied at the Timani Academy and participated at many courses home and abroad among them many courses with the Vertavo Quartet as a member of the Sorella String Quartet.

As a member of the Trondheim Soloists she has worked with musicians like Truls Mørk, Arve Tellefsen, Henning Kraggerud, Elbjørg Hemsing, Andreas Brantelid, The Norwegian Soloists´Choir, Frode Haltli, Ann-Helen Moen, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Odd Nordstoga, The Real Group, Emilia Amper among others. As a part of Sorella String Quartet and other chamber groups she has worked with Halvdan Sivertsen, Solistene, Tina Margareta Nilssen, Stine Rem Aarønes, Georg Reiss and more.

Since summer 2015 Elin has also been touring in Norway with "Fredholms trio". With their Norwegian and traditional repertoire the trio has charmed a continuously expanding audience across the country.

As part of Sorella String Quartet Elin has received "Nøtterøy Kommunes" scholarship for art, "Vestfold Fylkes" scholarship for art and scholarship from "Else og Josef Haraldsens Almennyttige Fond". She has also received Scholarship from Tom Wilhelmsens Stiftelse and scholarship from Department of Music, NTNU.

In addition to her career as a musician Elin is teaching Timani at the Department of Music NTNU, Tromsø Music Conservatory, The Barratt Due Institute of Music - at the Music School and at Timani Academy in Oslo, as well as hosting her own courses at home and abroad. Elin is also a certified Brainspotting Practitioner, Mind Detox Practioner, Meditation Teacher and will by June 2017 also finish her studies as a masseuse. She also gives lectures inspiring musicians as well as others how to live a joyful, honest and free life.
